Swedish Saab Dynamics has received an order for missiles from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia. Deliveries will take place during the period 2015-2016. The missiles believed to be of Mk II type are aimed for RBS 70 man-portable very-short range air defence missiles systems in service with the Latvian Armed Forces.
Latvia has been an RBS 70 system customer since 2004. This order for missiles is part of Latvia’s long-term plan to further increase its air defence capabilities. The contract includes the delivery of missiles, training and associated equipment plus an option for additional orders.
More than 1,600 RBS 70/RBS 70NG launchers and over 17,000 missiles were delivered to nineteen countries.
