Northrop Grumman has won the contract to build the LRS-B (Long Range Strike Bomber) aircraft for the U.S. Air Force (USAF). The U.S. firm was selected over a consortium formed by Boeing and Lockheed Martin.

The USAF plans to buy 80 to 100 aircraft aimed to progressively replace its aging B-52G/H Stratofortress and B-1A Lancer aircraft.

Northrop Grumman has supplied the USAF with several B-2 Spirit aircraft.
