On September 25th, the Comptroller of the Chilean Army (DIRECTMAR) approved a contract with the aeronautics manufacturer Vulcanair for the supply of seven P68 Observer 2 light aircraft.

The fleet will be deployed for several missions including search and rescue, maritime police, search and reconnaissance, MEDEVAC and general transport. The aircraft will specifically be configured with special mission equipment, including an automatic identification system for the identification of the ships, and an infrared camera and other mission equipment.

The aircraft will be delivered during the course of 2016-2017.
