The United States State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Thailand of ESSM (Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile) naval surface-to-air missiles and associated equipment, parts and logistical support for an estimated cost of USD26.9 million. The U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) delivered the required certification notifying the U.S. Congress of this possible sale on October 28.
The possible sale comprises 16 ESSM missiles, 14 tactical missiles, two telemetry missiles, three MK25 quad pack canisters and ten MK 783 shipping containers. Also included with this request is additional equipment; training; and technical services.
The missiles are intended for surface ships of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) equipped with 9LV MK4 combat management system.
The principal contractors are Raytheon Missile Systems, BAE Systems, SAAB and Lockheed Martin.
