Saab Electronic Defence Systems announced it has signed a contract worth approximately USD1.27 billion with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to expand and enhance the country’ airborne surveillance capabilities. The Swedish company will deliver a new airborne SRSS (Swing Role Surveillance System) incorporating a new version of the company’s Erieye airborne radar system.

The new SRSS for the UAE uses the Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier as a platform. The SRSS is capable of simultaneous detection and tracking of multiple targets in the air, on land and at sea.
