The U.S. State Department has cleared a possible foreign military sale of thousands of airborne launched general-purpose bombs and smart ammunition kits to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

If cleared by U.S. Congress, the sale, which could be worth up to USD1.29 billion, would provide ammunitions to Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) that has been conducting airstrikes in Syria and Yemen.

The request by the authorities of Riad include GBU-10 Paveway II laser guided kits, BLU-117/MK-84 general-purpose bombs, GBU-12 Paveway II laser guided kits, BLU-111/MK-82 general-purpose bombs, GBU-24 Paveway III laser guided kits, BLU-109 2 penetrator warheads, GBU-31(V1) KMU-556 joint direct attack munitions kits, GBU-31(V3) joint direct attack munitions kits, GBU-38 joint direct attack munitions kits, GBU-48 Enhanced Paveway II, dual-mode global positioning system laser guided kits, BLU-110/MK-83 general-purpose bombs, GBU-54 joint direct attack munitions kits, GBU-56 joint direct attack munitions kits, and FMU-152 fuzes.
