Lockheed Martin Aeronautics has been awarded a USD914 million contract by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to upgrade F-16C/D Fighting Falcon fighter jets of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF).

The contact set up through the U.S. foreign military sales (FMS) scheme is expected to be complete by 30 June 2023. Figure on number of aircraft to be modernized wasn’t delivered, but it is understood that Singapore is looking to upgrade 60 aircraft.

Details on the upgrade program were not released, however it could include the integration of capabilities such as Northrop Grumman AN/APG-83 SABR radar featuring active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology, Link 16 datalink, helmet mounted display system, Raytheon AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missile, as well as GBU-38, GBU-39, CBU-105, and GBU-49/50 Enhanced Paveway II air-to-ground smart weapons.
