The Cockerill 3105 turret and Cockerill 3030 turret that are part of CMI Defence’s Series 3000 range, will be in volume production in 2016. The first is armed with the company’s Cockerill CV 105mm assault gun and second feature 30mm Orbital ATK Mk 44 Bushmaster medium caliber automatic cannon.
It is understood the production is aimed to fulfill a contract associated with the supply by General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-Canada) of LAV III 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicles to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Saudi Arabia could have acquired 3530 units (or eventually this number include LAV IIs purchased in the past) of the vehicle according to sources. The Patria Land Systems NEMO (NEw MOrtar) 120mm turreted mortar system also was selected for the vehicle.
The two ballistic protected turrets are modular and were designed to include situational awareness system, embedded simulator, acoustic, advanced sighting systems and digital electronic architecture.
