Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control has delivered the 200th EOTS (Electro-Optical Targeting System) airborne targeting system for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.
The US company is delivering EOTS systems under low-rate initial production contracts with a total of 367 systems ordered to date. Planned production quantities exceed 3,000 aircraft with deliveries through 2030.
The EOTS sensor combine forward-looking infrared and infrared search and track functionality to provide F-35 Lightning II pilots with precise air-to-air and air-to-ground targeting capability. EOTS allows aircrews to identify areas of interest, perform reconnaissance and precisely deliver laser- and GPS-guided weapons while maintaining a stealthy profile.
