The Ministry of Defense of Israel (IMoD) just announced that after a series of concluding trials of the David’s Sling ground-based mobile air defence system, the Missile Defense Organization of Israel (IMDO), together with the Missile Defense Agency of the United States (MDA), began delivering major components of the system to the Israeli Air Force (IAF).
The David’s Sling weapon system, which was developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Raytheon Missile Systems completed its final test in December 2015.
The delivery process to the IAF will be taking place gradually, over the course of several weeks, in accordance with its development plan. The first phase of delivery is being conducted by IMDO, along with the defense industries. In this stage, the delivery of the radar, interception and command and control systems will take place.
In the near future, the process of testing all of the system components and the final declaration by the IAF that the system is operational will occur.
The multi-mission radar system was developed by Elta Systems, a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), and the Golden Almond battle management center was developed by Elbit Systems EW and SIGINT – Elisra.
