The French Ministry of Defence armament arm DGA (Direction Générale de l´Armement) is scheduled to receive next week from French shipbuilder DCNS the third Aquitaine-class FREMM multi-mission frigate aimed for the Marine Nationale. The ship, FS Languedoc (D653) will complement first-of-class FS Aquitaine (D650) and FS Provence (D652) delivered 2012 and 2015 respectively.

The anti-submarine combat units include two 8-cell DCNS SYLVER A70 vertical launchers for the fire of MBDA MdCN (Missile De Croisière Naval) land-attack cruise missiles in its armament suite.

Other three anti-submarine ships are currently being built at the shipbuilder’s shipyard in Lorient. (DCNS)
