The Bulgarian Government has approved three programs aimed to boost the NATO country’s armed forces. The plan recently unveiled by Bulgarian media comprise the modernization of MiG-29 fighter jets in service with the Bulgarian Navy and acquire several new fighters with US surplus F-16 Fighting Falcon, Gripen and Typhoon aircraft having been shortlisted. The Ministry of Defence is also looking to procure two new patrol vessels.
