L-3 Link Simulation & Training has been awarded a contract by the Support Directorate of the Polish Ministry of National Defence to support all training devices it has delivered over the past decade to the aircrew training system fielded by the Polish Air Force to train the pilots of its F-16C/D Block 52 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft.
This contract, which has a period of performance that concludes the fourth quarter of 2018, includes maintenance, repairs, spares, modifications and technical assistance. Its value is dependent on future task orders issued by the Polish Air Force.
These support efforts will include updates and modifications to devices, ensuring the training systems remain concurrent with platform changes and addressing system obsolescence issues. The system comprises one full mission trainer, two squadron-level trainers, instructor operator stations and computational systems. The training devices are installed at Poland’s Krzesiny Air Base and Lask Air Base.
The full mission trainer reinforces a full range of pilot warfighting skills, including low-level flight, formation exercises, air refueling, takeoffs and landings, and emergency procedures. Pilots are able to acquire and identify targets, in addition to delivering a full range of weapons during simulated air-to-air and air-to-ground combat scenarios.
