The first of six Boeing CH-47F Chinook military transport helicopter was delivered to the Turkish Land Forces Command on July 14.
The aircraft was manufactured in the U.S. and shipped to İzmir, Turkey where it was assembled before being flown to Ankara.
Turkey’s procurement agency, the SSM had signed a foreign military sales contract worth nearly USD400 million in 2011 to buy six of the airlifter. The first three aircraft will be delivered by the end of August, the remaining three by November.
Another five identical helicopters are planned to be delivered in 2018.
