Rheinmetall Defence is displaying its Boxer 8×8 modular multirole armoured fighting vehicle at Land Forces Australia event.
The vehicle was proposed to meet Australia’s Land 400 Phase 2 – Mounted Combat Reconnaissance Capability project opportunity aimed at to provide the Australian Army with a combat reconnaissance vehicle. Boxer is manufactured by ARTEC GmbH, a consortium formed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV). The vehicle has been so far purchased by Germany, the Netherlands and by Lithuania.
The combat reconnaissance vehicle version of the Boxer wheeled armoured vehicle has been selected as one of only two remaining competitors to undergo field trials known as Risk Mitigation Activities, or RMA.
It features a Rheinmetall Defence LANCE manned turret armed with a 35mm automatic cannon, coupled with command and reconnaissance architecture (C4ISR) from Northrop Grumman.
