The French shipbuilder DCNS delivered the amphibious assault ship ENS Anwar El Sadat to the Egyptian Navy on 16 September. A first unit of BPC Bâtiment de Projection et de Commandement) type, the ENS Gamal Abdel Nasser was delivered on 2 June 2016.
The naval unit of two ordered by Egypt in October 2015 was built by STX France. Both were originally aimed for the Russian Navy, after they were procured by Russian Rosoboronexport in June 2011.
DCNS, STF France and Défense Conseil International (DCI) were responsible to train the Egyptian crews.
