FMCE (Fábrica de Material de Comunicações e Eletrônica), an operation of Brazilian state-owned company IMBEL (Indústria de Material Bélico do Brasil) has unveiled the VHF tactical radio system TRC-1193 or Mallet 2.0. The radio system functions in 30-88 MHz radio frequency. It is an updated version of a previous radio system.
The new radio is available in vehicular and manpack configurations. The manpack version was designed to be compact and lightweight. It is expected to be produced in comprehensive quantities for the Brazilian Army. The radio system can be linked to Gênesis artillery battle management system developed by FMCE.
The Brazilian Army is mainly equipped with Falcon III radios from US firm Harris.
