The Turkish Air Forces Command expects to take delivery of its first F-35A Lightning II fighter jets in 2018 and has decided to order a second batch, the country’s armament procurement agency, the SSM (Savunma Sanayii Mustesarligi) announced. Turkey had placed its first orders in 2014 with two aircraft and has added another four in 2015.

The new orders will be delivered between 2021 and 2022.

The U.S. firm Lockheed Martin is building the Lightning II or JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) combat aircraft for the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Japan and South Korea.
