The U.S. Army took delivery of the first prototype of its new GDLS Stryker 8×8 infantry armoured vehicle upgraded with a turreted 30mm automatic cannon. After trials and production are complete, the new variant designated the Stryker Dragoon will field U.S. Army in Europe.

81 vehicles will be upgraded to the new configuration according to a decision by the U.S. Army of 2015.

The upgraded vehicles include hull modifications, improved suspension and Kongsberg Protech Systems Protector MCT-30 remotely-controlled weapon station (with forward looking infra-red sensor) armed with XM813 cannon for 30x173mm ammunition, and machine gun.
