The Brazilian Army (Exército Brasileiro or EB) announced it has approved the standardization of REMAX Version 3 lightweight stabilized remote-controlled weapon station. The weapon station was jointly developed by the Army Technological Center (Centro Tecnológico do Exército or CTEx) and the local privately-controlled company ARES Aeroespacial e Defesa.
ARES Aeroespacial e Defesa is owned by ELBIT Systems of Israel.
The REMAX V3 (Reparo de Metralhadora Automatizado X Versão 3) is armed with 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine gun. Other equipment include compact electro-optical sensor from OIP Systems, 76mm smoke grenade launchers and command and control unit.
The remote weapon station is equipping the Brazilian Army Iveco Latin America VBTP-MR Guarani 6×6 amphibious armoured vehicles, and was selected for the Iveco Defense Vehicles LMV 4×4 light tactical armored vehicle to be procured by the army.
