General Dynamics Land Systems UK is proposing the new LAV 700 8×8 multi-mission combat armoured vehicle to the planned incoming MIV (Mechanised Infantry Vehicle) program of the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence. The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organization is looking to purchase more than 500 vehicles in configurations such as personnel carrier, command & control, repair, recovery and ambulance.
The LAV 700 offers large-format hull, gross vehicle weight rating 33,000 kg, payload of 11,500 kg, lenght of 8.77 m, widht of 2.8 m, height of 2.8 m, a 711 hp Caterpillar C13 diesel engine, fully automatic transmission, advanced protection suite, energy attenuating seats for all personnel, hydro-pneumatic independent suspension, run-flat system, C4I (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, & Intelligence) suite, laser warning system, driver’s sighting system, wire cutter, central tyre inflation system, and hull-mounted smoke grenade launchers.
It can also be equipped with remote-controlled or manned-operated turret and weapon station, as well as armoured add-on and other mission equipment. The vehicle is capable to achieve a top speed of 115 km/h and maximum autonomy of 1000 km.
The company also is proposing other 8×8 vehicles such as the Piranha 5, LAV 6.0 and Stryker DVH.
