Norway announced it will procure five Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft to replace its fleet of P-3 Orion aircraft. Deliveries are expected for 2021 and 2022.

The acquisition program will likely be set up through the US foreign military sales procedure.

The type is currently fielded by the United States Navy (USN), Australia and India, while the United Kingdom has ordered nine aircraft.
