Kuwait is looking to improve the fleet of 218 M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks its land force operates.

The US State Department notified US Congress on December 12 of the possible foreign military sale to recapitalize the battle tanks, it was announced by US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).
The potential sale worth an estimated USD1.7 billion will involves General Dynamics Land Systems, the Joint Services Manufacturing Center, Kongsberg Defense Systems, Raytheon, Meggitt Defense Systems, Northrop Grumman, DRS Technologies, Lockheed Martin and Honeywell.

It include installing 12.7mm M2 heavy machine guns, 7.62mm M240 machine guns, AN/VRC-92E SINCGARS radios, night vision goggles, thermal management system, CROWS II (Common Remotely Operated Weapons Station II) remote weapon stations, special armor, 120mm gun tubes, forward looking infrared sights, embedded diagnostics, gunner’s primary sights and counter sniper and anti-materiel mount hardware.
