Textron AirLand announced the maiden flight of the first production conforming Scorpion jet. This program milestone closely follows the recent weapons capability exercise on the prototype Scorpion completed in early October. The Scorpion jet was designed to carry out roles such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, close air support and armed reconnaissance.
The aircraft took off from USAF McConnell Air Force Base and conducted a range of maneuvers during the one hour and 42mn flight.
The latest version of the Scorpion aircraft incorporates a number of improvements. Its avionics platform is based on the Garmin G3000 integrated flight deck suite.
The first production conforming Scorpion jet will start a flight test program.
