General Dynamics European Land Systems signed a contract on 22 December 2016, with the Austrian Ministry of Defense to deliver 34 additional Pandur 6×6 armoured vehicles to the country’s army.

Austria first purchased 71 Pandur 1 6×6 vehicles in 1994.

The first vehicle will be delivered in 2018. In addition to a new power pack, the Pandur 6×6 vehicles will have ballistic and mine protection, as well as a remotely controlled weapon station.

The existing fleet is being modernized with mine and ballistic protection suite from RUAG Defence and remote-controlled weapon station.
