The Brazilian privately-owned company GESPI Defense Systems has developed a new version of its disposable lightweight 84 mm ALAC (Arma Leve Anti Carro) man-portable shoulder-launched anti-armour weapon system. The new system called the ALAC Mk2 was designed to fire HESH (High-explosive squash head) ammunition from Dynamit Nobel Defence (DND).
HESH is a type of explosive ammunition that is effective against tank armour and fixed infrastructure.
The company is to supply the Brazilian Army with 150 of the ALAC system later in the year. Its Aruanã riverine fast multi-role boat is since August 2016 being tested by the Brazilian Navy’s Marine Corps (Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais, CFN). Four ALAC system are soon expected to be tested by a Latin American nation.
