The French Navy (Marine Nationale) “L’Adroit” offshore patrol vessel visits Cape Town, South Africa between 5-9 September as part of a deployment to Africa.

The visit provide an opportunity to promote the ship who the development and construction was self-funded by the French shipbuilder DCNS.

South Africa is looking to procure undisclosed quantities of offshore patrol vessels as part of its Biro project. DCNS is teaming with the local company Nautic Africa (formerly KND).

DCNS will also be at Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) 2012 event from 19 to 23 September to showcase Gowind Control offshore patrol vessel, Gowind Combat corvette, Mistral 140 projection & command ship, Polaris mission system and F21 torpedo.

Malaysia has purchased six Gowind Combat vessels fitted with SETIS combat system, to be locally built. Gowind range of surface ships is being actively marketed in countries such as Brazil, Poland, the Philippines, Algeria and Morocco.
