The Brazilian Air Force took possession of the first of four SABER M60 ground-based 3D low-altitude air defence radar system that were purchased according a contract worth BRL25 million firmed in 2012, after a letter of intent was celebrated in April 2011.

The system was developed by the Brazilian Army Technological Center (Centro Tecnológico do Exército or CTEx) in cooperation with the local company OrbiSat of Embraer Defesa e Segurança (EDS). The radar that has a range of up to 60 km, maximum ceiling of 5 km and classifies 40 targets simultaneously including fixed wing and rotary aircraft is plugged onto the air force´s aerospace defense system SISDABRA (Sistema de Defesa Aeroespacial Brasileiro).

The radars are intended to fit anti-aircraft artillery groups of Canoas and Manaus Air Bases respectively, each receiving two systems. The 200 kg radar is used in conjunction with in-service´s KB Mashinostroeniya (KBM) Igla-S man-portable very-short range surface-to-air missiles. It includes identification friend or foe (IFF) capability.

16 SABER M60 radar systems were already received by the Brazilian Army.
