Marinette Marine Corporation (MMC), a subsidiary of Fincantieri-Cantieri Navali Italiani, launched the fifth LCS (Littoral Combat Ship) surface combat ship, USS Milwaukee.

Following christening and launch, USS” Milwaukee” will continue to undergo outfitting and testing before delivery to the United States Navy (USN) in 2015.

The USN awarded the contract to construct USS “Milwaukee” vessel in December 2010. The ship is one of four LCS ships currently under construction by Marinette Marine Corporation. The team also includes Lockheed Martin and Gibbs & Cox.

The team designed and built USS “Freedom” and USS “Fort Worth”. USS “Detroit”, USS “Little Rock” and USS “Sioux City” are in various stages of construction at MMC.

USS “Wichita” and USS “Billings” are in the early stages of material procurement.
