The Brazilian company Grupo Inbrafiltro has completed the development of Gladiador (Gladiator) wheeled armoured multi-purpose vehicle also known as BLSR (Blindado Leve Sobre Rodas).

Gladiador is built around a chassis developed for the purpose by Agrale SA. It includes two levels of ballistic protection made with SSAB Domex Protect 500 high strength steel plates.

The vehicle is powered by MWM International Motores 4.12 TCE diesel engine with 185 hp coupled to an Allison Transmission Inc LCT1000 automatic transmission. It features a range of 700 km, a top speed of 130km, a overall length of 5 meters, a height of 2.2 meters and a width of 2.2 meters. The crew includes the driver, commander and six fully equipped troops.

Fittings include ZF Friedrichshafen AG SERVOCOM 8090 steering system, DANA Ltd axles, Hutchinson WA-0348 wheels and Michelin 335/85 R20 XZL tires.

The 6.6 Tonnes vehicle which is an evolution of the VBL (Veículo Blindado Leve) presented several years ago can be customized for a wide range of roles including ambulance, fire support, EOD with a dozer blade, reconnaissance, command post, command & control, troop carrier and utility/cargo.

The vehicle could be equipped as option with a NBC protection system and smoke grenade launchers.

The vehicle is to be trialed at a Brazilian facility under a contract awarded by the company. The company is looking to develop a 6×6 variant. Several countries have shown interest for the vehicle including Angola and Egypt.
